General Concept Ideas
Visual System
- An AI evaluates a camera image and gives out if the calf is laying or standing
- Option 1: trying to fit a skeleton model and evaluate that
- Option 2: Train an AI to differentiate just laying and standing → TinyML + LoRaWAN (“cheap and low power”)
ToF System
- Just use a Time of Flight sensor to measure the distance between the calf and the top of the ceiling
Additional Sensors
- Low-resolution thermal camera
- Measure the temperature of the calf and of the ground
- Air temperature and humidity tracking
- Straw/Litter tracking (temperature and humidity)
- Water tracking
